DEATH NOTICE
Marlaine Sharon Waite
May 7, 1950 – September 3, 2026
Marlaine Sharon Waite died peacefully and on her own terms on September 3, 2026, at the age of 76, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was the daughter of the late Georgette (Myre) and Charles Waite, and is survived by her sister, Lorraine Seguin (née Waite); her niece Patti Seguin (Jan); her nephew Wayne Seguin (Laurie); her grandnieces Samantha, Sasha and Alexandra; her grandnephews Zachary and Nicholas; and other extended family in Hawkesbury and beyond.
Marlaine spent 55 years working at Hawkesbury General Hospital — an impressive achievement that says a great deal about both her dedication and her determination.
She had a wonderful sense of humour while being direct and decidedly no-nonsense. She also had a genuine heart of gold. Often the life of the party, she was generous to a fault, always willing to lend a hand to those who needed it.
Marlaine enjoyed playing the lottery and online games, remaining remarkably optimistic that one day her years of loyal participation would be recognized. She also dearly loved her cat, Maggie, who held a particularly special place in her heart.
The last years of Marlaine's life were not easy. Through it all, she remained unmistakably herself — strong-willed, independent, funny, occasionally exasperating, and very much loved.
Above all else, Marlaine lived life on her own terms. She was not perfect, and she would have been suspicious of any obituary claiming otherwise. Ultimately, she was funny and stubborn, kind and outspoken, and she left those who knew her with plenty of stories to tell.
Rest peacefully, Marlaine. You've earned the last word.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Jean-Claude Landa and the staff of the Hawkesbury General Hospital for the excellent care given.

A funeral service will be held at St-Alphonse Cemetery on Friday September 25th 2026 at 11 a.m.

Ouf, quelle méchante surprise d’apprendre le décès de Marlene, j’ai connu Marlene lorsque je travaillais à l’hôpital Notre Dame, elle était comique, travaillante et tjrs de bonne humeur, je l’entends rire encore. Plusieurs années plus tard, elle a continué à travailler alors que plusieurs d’entre nous avions pris notre retraite. Elle disait, que vais je faire à la maison seule avec mes chats! Elle n’a jamais oublié les filles de la Nôtre Dame (annexe B) et je l’oublierai jamais aussi. Bon voyage et repos à toi et mes plus sincères condoléances à la famille et amis.
